Bohemia, NY-AME President Cheryl A. Felice was very pleased to have been honored by the National, New York State, and Suffolk County Independence Party at their Annual Spring Reception, held locally at the Venetian Yacht Club in Babylon on April 27, 2009. And, as a strong point of reference to validate the importance of our own Association of Municipal Employees, Suffolk County’s largest independent union, she stood alongside New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo – as they both accepted their awards.

“As public sector employees, we are most surely aware of the fact that politics plays an important role here in Suffolk County. Make no mistake about it, politics is power, at every level of government. For many of us who pay particular attention to those who hold office, we are visualizing more power flourishing beyond our two-party system of simply Democrats and Republicans. In fact, we have members of our current County Legislature who were elected through the Working Families Party, as well as former members elected through the Conservative Party. The Independence Party has become a viable force of political impact, which has been confirmed by its staunch presence at the legislative tables of government, and its continual frequency in the media.” Said President Felice

Mr. Cuomo extended his heartfelt congratulations to all honored guests, and to thank the many AME members who attended on behalf of our AME Union President Cheryl A. Felice.

The Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees is the labor union for the 8,500 active and retired Suffolk County employees.
