Important Update!
On the East End Alliance Hospitals and
Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance
April 1, 2010
AME has been closely monitoring negotiations between the East End Health Alliance Hospitals and the major insurance carrier Blue Cross/Blue Shield, most especially due to our AME members who live in eastern Suffolk County.
The East End Health Alliance and Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield announced this morning, April 1, 2010, that they have finally reached a new contract agreement.
As of today – April 1, 2010 – the three Alliance Hospitals:
• Southhampton Hospital
• Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead
• Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport
will once again, operate in Empire’s network for commercial and Medicare products.
AME President Cheryl A. Felice is happy to report that all Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield subscribers will receive in-network access to medical care at the three East End hospitals again. Empire BC/BS has reported they have reached a fair agreement that meets the needs of the community and the Empire BC/BS members while also maintaining quality health care affordable for our AME members. Hospital administrators have concurred that in reaching this agreement, the East End Alliance Hospitals look forward to promoting long-term affordability and accessibility of quality health-care services on eastern Long Island.
